If the OurSphere app shows “Pending First Update” or “check the device”, or the location is not refreshing, do this check first. The light on your Tack GPS tells you what to do next.
Charge, press, and watch the light
- Charge the device for 30 minutes using a wall adapter (not a laptop USB port). Then unplug the cable.
- Press the Power Button once (short press).
- Watch the light. You may see a short blue light first. Then find the light you see below.
What the light means
Green light, then off
The update was sent. Open the OurSphere app to see the new location.
Green light for 2–3 minutes, then blinking red
The device could not connect to the mobile network. This is usually weak cellular signal, for example in a basement, car park or lift lobby.
Wait until the red blinking stops. Move the device near a window or outdoors, then press the Power Button once again.
Solid red light
The device may have a hardware fault. Do a hard reset: press and hold the Power Button for 10 seconds until the light turns off, then press the Power Button once to restart.
If the solid red light comes back, email support@tackgps.app.
No light at all
The device is off, the battery is fully drained, or it is not charging. See Why Is My Tack GPS Device LED Not Lighting Up?
Still not updating?
A device that is not moving sends updates less often to save battery. In Standard Mode this can be every 60 minutes. See Tracking Mode.
If you have done the check above and the device still does not update, email support@tackgps.app with:
- The device serial number
- Your country
- A screenshot of the app
- The light you saw
