What Are Tracking Modes and How Do They Work?

Tack GPS offers multiple Tracking Modes to balance location update frequency and battery efficiency based on your needs. Here’s everything you need to know:


Tracking Modes and Their Reporting Intervals

Standard Plan

  • Emergency Mode:

    • Location updates: Every 2 minutes

    • Still interval: 15 minutes

  • Active Mode:

    • Location updates: Every 10 minutes

    • Still interval: 2 hours

  • Standard Mode:

    • Location updates: Every 60 minutes

    • Still interval: 4 hours

Premium Plan

  • Emergency Mode:

    • Location updates: Every 1 minute

    • Still interval: 8 minutes

  • Active Mode:

    • Location updates: Every 5 minutes

    • Still interval: 60 minutes

  • Standard Mode:

    • Location updates: Every 10 minutes

    • Still interval: 2 hours


What Is a "Still" Interval?

The "Still" interval is designed to optimise battery performance. When a Tack GPS device detects no change in location, it pauses regular updates to conserve power and will report its location only during the next scheduled "Still" interval.


How to Change Your Tack’s Tracking Mode

  1. Access the Device Settings:

    • Go to the Device Tab in the OurSphere app.

    • Select your Tack GPS device from My Devices List or via the Map view.

  2. Choose Tracking Mode:

    • Tap on Mode and select your preferred option.

  3. Transition Confirmation:

    • The selected Tracking Mode will blink to indicate that the change is in progress. This may take a few minutes.

    • You will receive a notification once the device has successfully changed its mode.

  4. Immediate Mode Change (Optional):

    • Press the device’s Power Button to force a manual network connection and apply the new Tracking Mode immediately.

  • Select a device to upgrade to a Premium Tack Cloud  Subscription for higher interval tracking.
