Tack GPS devices are designed to optimise battery performance by using advanced A.I. algorithms and built-in sensors to determine movement before sending location updates. Here’s why your device may not be updating its location at the expected interval in Emergency Mode:
Reasons for Delayed Location Updates in Emergency Mode
No Change in Location:
Why It Happens:
Tack GPS only sends timely location updates if it detects a change in its position, to optimise battery performance.
If the device remains stationary, it will not trigger timely location updates, even in Emergency Mode.
Emergency Mode Duration:
Why It Happens:
Emergency Mode is active for 1 hour from the time it is triggered in the OurSphere app.
If the device’s location does not change within that hour, Emergency Mode will expire without sending updates.
How to Ensure Location Updates in Emergency Mode
Keep in Mind Location Changes:
Timely location updates in any tracking mode only occur when the device detects a change in location. Keep in mind that if the device remains stationary, it may skip reporting of updates to optimise battery performance.
Manually Trigger an Update:
Press the Power Button on the Tack GPS device once to manually wake it up and initiate a location update.
Monitor Duration of Emergency Mode:
Keep in mind that Emergency Mode will expire after 1 hour if no location change is detected. If needed, re-enable Emergency Mode after it expires.
FAQs
Q1: What should I do if the location is not updating despite movement?
Ensure the device is in an area with good signal strength and is not obstructed. You can also press the Power Button to force a location update.
Q2: Does Emergency Mode drain the battery faster?
Yes, Emergency Mode consumes more battery due to its frequent update intervals. Use it sparingly for critical situations.
Q3: Can I extend Emergency Mode beyond 1 hour?
No, Emergency Mode is limited to 1 hour. However, you can re-enable it in the OurSphere app if needed.
Q4: Will Emergency Mode update if the device is stationary?
No, Emergency Mode relies on a change in location to trigger timely location updates. Stationary devices will not send timely updates to prioritise efficient battery performance.
